Wow, I’ve just discovered something I love, and it was right there in front of me all along…
So damn typical I thought to myself – how many times have you ignored bloody obvious?
I do it all the time with great bands…I know the name, I hear the stories but somehow I never get around to listening to them…and it costs me. I miss out.
Well, that’s just what happened to me yesterday…
I was browsing looking at those cool t-shirts you can get at wornfree - you know the ones that are designed to look the same as what famous rockers used to wear.
Anyway, I clicked on the Frank Zappa section – and F**K ME – that guy’s personality just jumped right out at me.
Now, I’ve heard of Frank Zappa before, but up until now, I never listened to a single song he had ever done.
So what did I do?
I jumped straight onto YouTube, searched ‘Frank Zappa’ and followed the music – literally – and it blew me away…
You know that song ‘Don’t Eat the Yellow Snow‘ – it has a clever little bass riff that I really like so, of course, I wanted to play along.
I did a quick search on Google that brought up the usual pages and pages of tabs and chords – and a guitar pro tab.
I’m sure you’ve heard of Guitar pro software.
To be honest the whole guitar pro thing really passed me by, but yesterday, I said ‘what the heck’ and downloaded the free trial version – and man was I impressed.
So impressed in fact that I went back this morning and spent the $75 for the full version – when something’s good, why wait?
I really could have used Guitar Pro when I was first learning (but like I told you before – I’m not one for spotting the obvious).
Sometimes I used to spent days trying to make tabs sound like a song – I would have done anything to have someone sit beside and play the song note by note, at my speed, until I got it…
I’m gonna stop babbling on now – Here’s Frank

Too bad that video don’t work no more. I would have liked to see that.
Yea, starting out, I didn’t know much about guitar tabs and that software would have definitely helped me out. I’ll recommend this page when people ask me about tabs.
