Learn 7th Guitar Chords

7th Guitar chords are a variation on the major and minor chords you have learned so far. They are very easy to form and in general they are easier to play than their major equivalents.

To form a dominant 7th guitar chord you must first understand the following 3 points

  • You have 7 Notes on a scale and then an octave
  • Any major chord is made up of the 1st, 3rd and 5th notes of the scale
  • The 7th chord is made up of the 1st, 3rd, 5th and flattened 7th notes of the scale

Flattened in this context means that the note is one semitone lower than the 7th note of the scale.
